English as a Second Language

In our ESL program, Adult English Language Learners can improve their reading, writing, and speaking skills with the help of a one-on-one tutor. All languages are welcome.

For Learners

The Adult Literacy and ESL Center at the Camarillo Public Library offers:

  • Free, one-on-one tutoring for adult English learners, ages 18 and over.
  • Small Conversation groups with up to six students, to practice English speaking and listening skills, led by an ESL tutor.  All groups are free!

We can also help prepare you for high school equivalency diploma tests, citizenship, and vocational training.

For Tutors

Thank you for your interest in helping! As an ESL tutor, you will help adult English language learners improve their reading, writing, and speaking skills. Volunteer ESL tutors must complete an online tutor training session.  No experience is necessary; only a love of reading, a desire to help, and the ability to commit to at least 6 months of volunteering is required. Must be at least 18 years of age to become a tutor.
