Teen Advisory Board (TAB)
Welcome to the Teen Advisory Board page! TAB is a group of library teen volunteers (ages 13 -18) that take an active leadership role to promote the library. TAB is responsible for planning library events that are celebrated in the community. Such programs include:
- Annual Escape Room
- Kite Making
- BookCon
How do you join TAB?
Apply using the library’s volunteer application and wait for our volunteer coordinator to get back to you!
Required: One-Year Commitment, attend one meeting per month, virtual work as needed. Maintain an open line of communication with your fellow TAB members.
What do I have to do to be an active member of TAB?
TAB requires a little bit of work from your end to be an active member. These following steps serve as a guide to help you:
- Attend as many official meetings as you can. Meetings are held in the YA Library each 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month from 4 to 6 pm.
- Participate in online discussions and assignments.
- Keep an open line of communication.
- Can work independently and in groups.
- There will be times when work outside of official meetings will be required. This outside work also counts towards volunteer hours.
- Absences are okay. Participation might vary from month to month.
What do I gain?
Active participants in TAB
- Practice complex planning and organizing, which looks good on college applications and résumés.
- Develop a basic understanding of City level policies on procedures and budgeting.
- Learn and gain skills needed to become a librarian.
Members that stay with TAB for one year or longer can ask the Young Adult Librarian for a letter of recommendation for college applications.
Can I have some more examples of the projects that TAB does?
- Planning and implementing the Annual Escape room.
- Plan the kite making event.
- Assist children with crafts during our annual summer reading program.
