POETRY CONTEST: Deadline October 31, 2017

The Camarillo Public Library, in partnership with the Ventura County Arts Council, is pleased to announce two poetry writing contests in October, one for adults and one for writers ages 12 to 18.

Prizes will include an invitation to present as an honored guest at a public reading, a copy of the county laureate’s volume of poetry, a set of broadsides of the winning poems, and Visa gift cards. For details, and how to enter, please visit camarillolibrary.org/poetrycontest.


There will be two single-session poetry workshops to help you hone your work and your skills.

Adult Workshop: Saturday, October 14 from 2 - 3:30PM

Youth Workshop:Monday, October 16 from 3 - 4:30PM

Participation will be limited to 20 for each workshop and admission will be on a first-come basis. Writers may bring up to three pieces for workshop evaluation.

Lin Rolens, who has published many poems and over a million words and has been a creative writing teacher for 35 years, will lead the workshops.
