Island Mana Dancers

Sunday, May 6, 2018 - 2:00pm to 3:00pm
Community Room

Island Mana Dancers are a group of Polynesian dancers who have performed for people all over the world sharing the cultures of Tahiti, Hawaii, New Zealand and Samoa. The creative director, Rika, has been dancing her entire life, has worked on several cruise ships as a Polynesian Ambassador (teacher, dancer), and has toured with a group from Tahiti to France in a musical called "Le Sauvage Blanc." She was a Costume Design and Dance Consultant for Disney’s movie, Moana, where she designed and made costumes and did some choreography for reference. Rika and her dancers will tell stories through song and dances of Polynesia to better educate the world about the oral traditions of the island people and their connections to the land and water.
