The Positive Side of Negative Campaigns - Jared Barton, Ph.D.

Voters say they hate negative campaigning: the name-calling, the mudslinging, the exaggerations that no companies dare advertise this way. But is that really true? Drawing on research in political science and economics, we explore the costs and not as obvious benefits of negative political campaigns, and draw parallels with advertising tactics in conventional consumer marketing.
